Our Mission

The battle has been raging since Christ himself walked the earth over two thousand years ago. The established order of that day was the religious  rule of the Pharisees with their over emphasis on tradition and law. And upon that culture a contradiction invades their paradigm and upsets the foundations of their theology. Jesus Himself, grace and truth, heralds the cause of liberty and freedom from the captivity and limitations of the law. The battle ensued between these two opposing forces and climaxed when ultimately legalism and religion crucify the Savior. But what the religious forces did not know was that Jesus would rise from the dead and send resurrection power to his disciples and to his church. With this grass roots "gathering" emerging in the liberty and power of the Spirit, the church was born and empowered.  But it didn’t take long for them to retreat to the familiar and traditional formats as Paul writes to the Galations:

You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you of the flesh? Gal. 3:1 NIV

28 Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29 At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. 30 But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” 31 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman. Gal. 4:28-31 NIV

Time and tradition once again steal the liberty and power freely given to us and over the course of centuries the church resides in darkness, chained and powerless until a brave reformer comes on the scene.  Martin Luther boldly proclaims, it's by faith you are saved not of works! And light again begins to break through the prison bars!  Even in this great reformation, sadly, religious mentality takes hold and sects and divisions are born again.  Religion and tradition are powerful forces which relentlessly rage to suffocate the move of the Spirit in His church.  The battle continues even until this present hour; the spirit of liberty against the strangulating clutches of religion.

So what is our mission?  We are burdened to witness the Holy Spirit breath upon the church; to have the testimony of experiencing the greater works spoken by Jesus; to have the blind see, the lame walk and yes the dead raised. We desire to wake up the sleeping giant and show them the power given to them.  We believe Christ is calling his church to “come forth” like Lazarus. To come forth out those grave clothes of religion, tradition, mediocrity, status quo thinking and legalism; to be alive and free to experience all that God has for His church. We realize that this may bring a measure of chaos and that all things should be done decently and in order, however sometimes God’s order will look like chaos just like on the day of Pentecost.

Our mission is simply this: destroy religion and the dark spirits surrounding it and let the Holy Spirit empower the church!
